A unique set of light installations in the Cathedral and the Close
A unique set of light installations in the Close and Cathedral celebrating the journey of Advent to Christmas.
Squidsoup’s ‘Light Wave’ is an immersive walk through experience comprising 20 metres of suspended light and audio spheres on the west path which softly glow and play plainsong, creating a dreamlike experience.
David Ogle’s ‘Lumen’ – five 3- metre tall tree-like structures will form a luminous canopy of interlocking neon branches among the cedars in the Cloisters.
Suspended inside the Cathedral you will find ‘The Light’, a 4-metre illuminated globe by Richard McLester which projects a galaxy of stars that whirl and spin around it until finally focusing on the ‘Star of Bethlehem’.
The entire Close will be joyfully lit for the festive season, providing the perfect haven at what can be a hectic time of year.
Best viewed after dark.
